The Ohio House of Representatives has passed Substitute House Bill 2, which will allocate $350 million from the Strategic Community Investment Fund for various projects across the state. State Rep. Gail Pavliga (R-Portage County) announced the approval of this one-time funding, with nearly $2.8 million directly benefiting Portage County.

Pavliga expressed optimism about the future of Ohio, stating, "These investments in our community and its residents will help shape Portage County for years to come."

As a champion for her local community, Pavliga has secured several provisions that will positively impact Portage County. These provisions include:

- $1,000,000 for the Ravenna Health Center to expand services in the Ravenna community.

- $700,000 to build housing for the Serenity House Residential Facility, providing shelter for vulnerable residents.

- $500,000 to construct a welcome center at the Happy Trails Farm Animal Sanctuary, benefiting the community.

- $225,000 to build a new park in Shalersville, creating a gathering place for the community.

- $125,000 to create the Kent Safety Town training facility, focusing on educating young community members about safety.

- $105,000 to create a display of working historical farm equipment at the Freedom Township Historical Society Museum, educating visitors.

- $51,000 for improvements to Buchert Park in Mantua, enhancing the experience for community members.

- $40,000 to renovate the Children's Advantage in Ravenna, upgrading their facilities.

- $27,950 to modernize the Windham Historical Society Digitization, providing visitors with improved exhibits and technology.

In addition to these local investments, the legislation also includes significant statewide capital investments. This includes $600 million for the School Building Program Assistance Fund, $400 million for the Public Works Commission Local Public Infrastructure and State Capital Improvement Program, $397.6 million for higher education projects, and $250 million for local jail construction across Ohio.

The Strategic Community Investment Fund was established in the state's previous operating budget and includes excess funding from the previous fiscal year. Through conservative fiscal stewardship, the Ohio House has dedicated this excess funding towards projects that will move Ohio forward.

This $350 million funding will be incorporated into the State Capital Budget bill, a two-year construction budget for capital projects.
